Introduction To Making Video Games.

Have you ever wanted to make a videogame, but thought you didn't have technical chops, a powerful enough PC, or just didn't know where to start? In this workshop, led by BAFTA Breakthrough game developer and games researcher Stanley Baxton, you'll be introduced to the no-code Bitsy engine, allowing anyone to make a videogame straight from their web browser. DIY game communities have been growing online, encouraging everyone to join them in showing personal experiences, stories, and more through videogames. Bring your phone or a laptop to this session, and discover how to become part of this community yourself.
Stanley W. Baxton is a narrative game developer, and currently a PhD student at the University of Salford, studying gamedev communities and sustainability. Previously, he worked at Supermassive Games as a game designer. He's made over a dozen games solo, won the 2024 New Media Writing Prize, and is part of BAFTA Breakthrough 2025.
